"Climate Refugee" SALE, Rare Bulbs, & Cypripedium
July 24th, 2015
Celebrating our 12th Anniversary Season!
Hello Gardeners Across Canada!
We hope you're having a great summer in your gardens. Out here in BC we've been having heatwaves and drought since May (though ironically it is raining today!). With such hot temperatures, blue skies, forest fires and water restrictions, it's been an eventful season.
With hot weather forecast to continue after this momentary wet blip we've decided to have a "Climate Refugee" Sale to try to send our plants to more benign regions across the country. Now until August 7th we are taking orders that will all ship on August 10th. You'll receive 20% off! Because administration and handling is so time consuming for mail order we will rarely have sales. So this would be a good time to take advantage. Full details are below.
We are also very excited to launch our fall offers of Rare Bulbs and Cypripedium Lady's Slipper Orchids. These unique items are only available for shipping in the fall so please place your orders now. Full details are below.
Gary and the Phoenicians
"Climate Refugee" Sale
A Rare Chance for 20% Off until Aug 7th!
You've likely heard about our summer drought here in BC and the fact that the whole province is on fire! Well, we've got some climate refugees who are looking to relocate to more benevolent regions of the country. So we're offering a very rare opportunity to purchase plants for mail order shipping at 20% off! (We have never done a mail order sale before and don't plan on doing them much in the future. So now is the time!)
Our sale applies to more than 350 different plants including these below:
- The sale is available for plants currently listed on our mail order site under the categories Perennials, Shrubs, Vines, Grasses, Subtropicals, and Edibles. This includes about 350 different plants.
- The discount does not apply to special additions that are not currently in our shopping cart system. We can add special requests but we cannot discount them.
- The sale applies to orders placed between July 24th and Aug. 7th, 2015.
- These orders must all ship on Monday Aug. 10th. We cannot offer this sale for any other ship dates.
Use Coupon Code CR-20 to receive your discount.
Have fun shopping!
Over 50 Incredible Bulbs for Canadian Gardeners
We are proud to offer an exciting selection of bulbs rarely available, if ever, to Canadian gardeners. From intriguing ornamental onions to Chilean blue crocus, wand flowers to dog-tooth violets, mariposa lilies to camas lilies, plus rare daffodils and iris, we have a selection to knock your socks off and turn your gardening friends green with envy! (We suppose you could tell them about us if you want to be a good gardening friend.)
Visit Phoenix Perennials Mail Order to see our full selection of over 50 rare bulbs.
Our selection of rare bulbs will ship or be ready for pick-up in September (for local gardeners). For mail order customers: if you combine bulbs and Cypripedium in the same order (which are not available until mid October) we will ship your bulbs and Cyps together in October. Please place separate orders if you want your bulbs to arrive as early as possible in the fall (Sept).
Please note: because we must pay our suppliers in advance, we will process payment of Cypripedium and Bulb orders at the time of ordering. Should something not be available at the time of shipping we will refund the money at that time.
Cypripedium Lady's Slippers
21 Different Hardy Orchids for Canadian Gardens
These Cypripedium hybrids possess hybrid vigour -- they have inherited the best traits of both parents -- and are much easier to grow than species orchids, have big flowers in amazing colours, and clump up very quickly into amazing displays in the part shade garden. They bloom in late April and May offering an exquisite show in the garden. All are officially hardy to zone 4 while some are hardy to zone 3 and even zone 2! Even the zone 4 plants may be hardy in protected spots in zone 3 with mulch and good snow cover.
We are currently offering 21 different lady's slipper hybrids for shipping in mid October, 2015. All are top quality, blooming size and should flower in the spring. Here they are:
We will be providing them to you bare root. All you need to do is plant them directly into a well-drained location in part shade or morning sun. We'll provide you with detailed instructions when we ship your plants.
October is the only time of year we ship Cypripedium lady's slipper orchids. They are also available at this time for pick-up for local customers. They arrive bare root and super fresh. Planting them directly into the garden in fall is the best way to establish them even for local customers who have the option of purchasing them potted and in growth in the spring. Mulch with a pile of leaves after fall planting.
Please note: Because we must pay our suppliers in advance, we will process payment of Cypripedium and Bulb orders at the time of ordering. Should something not be available at the time of shipping we will refund the money at that time
