Sneak Peek #2 into the 2012 Season
Working hard to be your plant mecca!

Here are just a few of the hot new plants we have planned for you in 2012.

Zantedeschia aethiopica 'African Gold' - Calla Lily - Big, bold, deep green arrow shaped foliage boasts striking gold veins. Plants grow to the same size as the species (two to three feet). Pure white calla lily flowers arise from the distinctive foliage in late spring and early summer. For full sun and moist soils. Green until hard frosts. Mulch with fallen leaves - pack leaves around the perimetre and right into the centre of the plant to protect the crowns in winter. Calla lilies can be slow to bulk up in the garden so investing in a larger size is a good idea.
Gaura lindheimeri 'Summer Emotions' - Coralbells - This bicolour gaura has petals centred in pure white and blushed at the edges in perfect pink. This dwarf plant will grow about a foot tall making this gaura great for the front of the border or containers. Gaura put on a spectacular flower show throughout the spring, summer and the early fall months. Well-drained soils.
Agapanthus inapertus 'Midnight Cascade' - Lily-of-the-Nile - 'Midnight Cascade' has incredibly dark, rich purple flowers that emerge from near black buds. Some flowers in each head will remain pendulous producing an interesting effect. They flower heads are held on three foot tall stems above bold green strap-like foliage. Deciduous. Mulch in winter.

Centaurea 'Cara Mia' - Perennial Bachelor's Button - This new hybrid has bold pink flowers that emerge from fuzzy brown and black buds over a long period in summer. The stems are strongly upright. Popular with bees.

Lilium (Oriental) 'Magic Star' - Oriental Lily - This stunning and unique double lily has dozens of white to pale pink petals striped down the centre with rich red overlain with red speckles. Oriental lilies bloom in August with bold colours and a sweet and spicy intoxicating fragrance. Plant in groups of 3 to 5 for a dramatic visual and olfactory experience.
Lilium (Oriental) 'Lodewijk' - Oriental Lily - This stunning and unique double lily has dozens of pure white petals striped down the centre with lime green. Oriental lilies bloom in August with bold colours and a sweet and spicy intoxicating fragrance. Plant in groups of 3 to 5 for a dramatic visual and olfactory experience.
Lilium (Oriental) 'Sweet Rosy' - Oriental Lily - This stunning and unique double lily has dozens of white to pale pink petals striped down the centre with rich red overlain with red speckles. Oriental lilies bloom in August with bold colours and a sweet and spicy intoxicating fragrance. Plant in groups of 3 to 5 for a dramatic visual and olfactory experience.
Viola walteri 'Silver Gem' - Prostrate Blue Violet - This gorgeous trailing violet is native to eastern North America and comes from the gardens of the Mt Cuba Center. It has beautiful silver-streaked, heart-shaped foliage that forms a dense, tidy mat in shade and part shade. Lavender flowers appear in early spring and rebloom consistently until fall. Drought tolerant once established. Deer resistant

Primula Kennedy Irish Innisfree - Primrose - This vulgaris hybrid has rich red flowers with a yellow eye. The flowers are held above a rosette of very dark, bronzy purple leaves. A fabulous new addition to the world of primroses.
