Common Name: Giant Allium Family: Alliaceae (The Onion Family)

Notes:
Ornamental onions offer intriguing spherical or egg-shaped inflorescences comprised of hundreds of tiny flowers. Tightly formed, round, softball-sized inflorescence filled with small lilac purple florets; plant among perennials to hide dying foliage; blooms in late spring with Dutch Iris and Eremurus and painted daisies. Native from Afghanistan to Pakistan and north into Russia.
