Kalmia latifolia Various Cultivars
Common Name: Mountain Laurel Family: Ericaceae (The Heath Family)

Notes:
Kalmias are rhododendron-like shrubs with evergreen foliage and numerous beautiful, jewel-like clusters of small cupped flowers. We have 10 cultivars available including ‘Nipmuck’ with intense red buds that open to light pink flowers with raspberry markings, ‘Ostbo’s Red’ with red buds opening to dark pink flowers and ‘Comet’ with uniquely lobed white flowers with hints of pink. Acidic soil and partial shade.

Geogrpahical Origin:
Americas - North America

Native Habitat:
Rich rocky, or dry gravelly woods in the shade of deciduous trees, and swamps in acid soils. Prefers sandy or rocky soils.
