Miscanthus x giganteus
Common Name: Giant Miscanthus Family: Poaceae (The Grass Family)

Miscanthus x giganteus
Zoom In Photo:

Notes:
This giant clumping hybrid grass grows to fourteen feet every year in my garden like a columnar fountain of foliage. It's kind of like a decidous bamboo in terms of its contribution to the garden. In late fall in some years it sports typical miscanthus type flowers. Interestingly, because of its rapid growth this miscanthus is being used commercially in the UK to provide clean and affordable electricity and heat.
