From an eastern North American variety (angustum) of our native lady fern comes this intriguing form with lacy, light green, arching foliage held upright on brilliant, red-violet stipes (fern stems). Lady fern is a deciduous and easy-to-grow fern. It adds elegant, finely textured foliage for excellent contrast with bold-leaved shade plants like Hosta, Bergenia and Rodgersia. In moist to wet forested thickets and along streambanks, sometimes in swamps.
