This form of species palmatum has large toothed leaves with green tops and intense rosy-purple reverses. It continues to produce new, freshly coloured leaves until late summer. Tall spires of tiny white flowers reach skywards in early summer. A truly dramatic focal plant. Prefers a deep, humus-rich, moisture retentive yet well-drained soil in sun or semi-shade.
