This Chinese mayapple is one of most exciting shade perennials. Fuzzy umbrellas emerge with dark snakeskin markings, often on a red background, changing to patterned green. Flowers can be red, pink, or white and are followed by apricot coloured fruit. Also called P. veitchii or Dysosma veitchii.
