This improvement over 'Husker Red' was developed by Brent Horvath at Intrinsic Perennials. In comparison, 'Pocahontas' has much darker foliage that emerges wine purple and keeps its colour much better through the summer heat. The flowers are lavender-pink rather than white and the stems are burgundy-red.
Rich woods, prairies, thickets, roadsides, railway tracks.
