The hairy lip fern looks delicate but really it's a tough one. It is one of the easier xeric ferns to grow. It has olive to bluish hairy fronds that stand in upright clumps to eight inches. It is extremely tough and drought tolerant and good in sun to part shade. .

A US native, it can be found in scattered rocky outcrops from the Midwestern states eastward.
