Japanese monkshood has strong upright stems that often arch outwards at bloom time, especially in part shade. The blue to purple-blue hooded flowers are classic monkshood and offer a great display for the summer garden.

Forests, forest margins, by streams at elevations of 500 - 1500 metres.
