Notes:
Cast iron plant has frequently been used as a houseplant where it can be placed in dark corners where it seems impervious to the low light conditions. Yet they are also hardy on the west coast and can be planted outside in shaded conditions, especially with overhead protection from trees and shrubs. 'Ginga' is an attractive, dwarf plant with dark green, evergreen leaves flecked with yellow to cream spots.
