Peltoboykinia is a rhizomatous, herbaceous perennial noted for producing a basal clump of large, rounded, deeply-cut, slightly shiny leaves which rise on strong petioles. The leaves emerge in spring with pinkish-red tones but mature to a rich green. Flower spikes bear tiny, pale creamy yellow flowers.
